What I Wore - Freely Floral Tiny Prints Collaboration

Hi everyone!
I am excited to be back in the blogging world after a very long unintentional hiatus. And I am even more excited to share this really fun collaboration post with you all!
In December I was contacted by a lovely member of the Tiny Prints team and asked to do an outfit post inspired by one of there many cards or labels. I searched through the site for hours trying to find the perfect one and i found it! So here we go!

The second I saw this one it reminded me of this dress, which is one of my favorites!

Dress - Thrifted - Vintage
Shirt - Thrifted - Magazine
Tights - Walmart
Shoes - Marden's - Piper & Blue
Necklace - Claire's
Belt - Yard Sale
Headband - Walmart
Gloves - Claire's

I really wanted to match a piece with pink and white poka dots with this, but I just didn't have anything like that, so i went with this black shirt, I felt like it really made the colors in the dress pop, and gave it a slightly edgier look. I have also totally fallen in love with white tights! I love how they look on, I had major doubts about them when i first got this pair but now I'm hooked!
I loved looking through all of Tiny Prints wonderful stock. If I ever need invitations or labels or anything of the sort I will definitely go there to find them! They have so many styles and themes and the website is so nice and easy to search through! I always had thought that Tiny Prints was just for baby and kids things, so I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was aimed at other things and age groups too!
I'm going to try to get back in the swing of blogging, but my internet is still pretty sketchy so we'll see how it works out. But I have some post ideas swirling around in my head so I hope I can do them soon!
Thank you to the folks at Tiny Prints for giving my this fun opportunity!
Have a great day everyone and stay warm!

What to Wear - Well Thrifting

Hi! And happy Thanksgiving to my American readers!
Here goes another round of What to Wear, This week we're showing off what we wear thrifting! I'm an avid thrifter so i was excited to put this together. The old ladies that run the thrift shop I frequent have seen me in an array of outfits. From the blah I've worn this outfit 3 days in a row and I'm to lazy to pick out something else outfits to the over the top crazy outfits. Usually it's the over the top crazy ones I wear, because I always get compliments instead of glares. Thrift shops are the one place people don't look at me like I'm a nutcase, so I tend to dress boldly. Anyways I thought it was only appropriate to wear two of my resent favorite thrifted find.

Sweater, Thrifted, 1$
Jeans, Marden's Wet Seal, 3$
Boots, Thrifted, Hand Made in Canada, 1$
Headband, Family Dollar

This sweater, oh my gosh! I am in love with this thing! I have ALWAYS had a thing for "hideous" sweaters, the first piece of clothing I ever picked out myself at age 2 or 3 was a hideous vintage sweater and since then I've never stopped loving them. I found this one about a month ago and i have already worn it way to many times. It's just perfect.
When i first got these boots I wasn't sure about the, they looked awesome and they fit but they didn't feel very comfortable, then when i was relacing them I noticed that some one had put a really thick weirdly shaped insole in them. Once I took that out they fit perfectly and are so comfy. My favorite part is they actually have tread on them. I find so many winter boots that have slippery flat bottoms with just no grip, which anyone who lives in a snowy place knows you're likely to break your neck if you wear boots like that. And thank you to everyone who has grabbed my BLOG BUTTON. And thank you to everyone who viewed my SURPRISE BALL POST I have been totally shocked at the interest in it! It has gotten over 700 views! Which is a big deal to me since I usually only get 20ish views on a post. So thank you so much to all of you! I am thankful for every single person who views and reads my blog.
Don't forget to check out our link up over on Nicole's blog Gypsy in Jasper. You can add your own thrifting look if you'd like, or if you can't make it this week you can join us next time on December 12th for What to Wear - Holiday Spirit, hope to see you there!
Anyways I'm going to be spending the day at my step grandmothers, and eat way to much. Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!
Have a wonderful day!

What to Wear - Mixing Patterns

Hi everyone
I can't believe it's already time for What to Wear again! This week we are showing off our pattern mixing skills. I personally struggle with mixing patterns, I can mix colors or styles, but patterns I have a lot of trouble with. I always feel like I look like a crazy person, thus why I wore this outfit on a day I didn't go anywhere. But hey practice makes perfect, right? Oh and ignore the bowl and tray in the background. me and my mom have started on Christmas stuff so the living room where I take my photos is pretty well taken over.

Shirt, Marden's, 50 cents
Skirt, Thrifted, 50 cents
Belt, ???
Tights, Walmart, in the Halloween rolebacks, 75 cents
Shoes, Marden's, Mixx Shuz, 6$
Flower, Marden's, ??

The lighting the day I took these was horrible, so you can't really see the pattern on the skirt. It's a little sort of abstract flower pattern.
Our Walmart still has a bunch of Halloween markdowns left and I scored a few pairs of tights for 75 cents. I was a bit hesitant seeing as they were for Halloween  costumes I thought they might not be the best quality, but i was really happy to find that they are exactly the same as any other tight, and they were so cheap! So if anywhere around you still has Halloween stuff marked down  I would highly suggested digging through it a bit, there is actually some great stuff to be found in it!
If you would like to show off your pattern mixing style you can find our link up over on Nicole's blog Gypsy in Jasper. And don't forget to check out all of the other ladies looks! If you can't make it this week we'll be back on the 28th to show of What to Wear Well Thrifting. I hope to see you then!
Have a wonderful day!

What I Wore - New Lease on Life

Hell hello
Boy life has sure been throwing some curve balls lately! Can't seem to catch a break, but I'm sure it will clear up at some point. And soon enough it will be the middle of winter and I'll be complaining I'm bored so I guess I may as well enjoy the crazyness.
On a resent thrifting trip I found this killer burgundy velvet dress, unfortunately it was huge and way to long for me, but I just loved the fabric and color, and it was only a buck so i thought it would be a good candidate to practice some alterations on.
This is how the dress started out its life, you can't really tell just how big it is in this picture but trust me you could have fit at least 3 of me in it. (please ignore the  mess in the background.)
and now onto the outfit pictures of the redone dress.

 Belt, Thrifted, 50cents
Ear cuff, Claire's, 3$
Necklace, Hot Topic, 4$
Choker,???
Boots, Thrifted, 1$
Tights,???

I have to say I was pretty proud of how this came out. the arms need a bit of work still but I couldn't resist wearing it. These boots are so comfy! I wish they had a brand on them somewhere, the only thing they say is that they were made in Canada. But I guess that's the price of thrifting, not always knowing the brand something is.
Well I don't have very much to say, I think I might go to the thrift shop today but I don't know yet.
I hope you all have a wonderful day!

What I Wore - The Rut

Hello out there
I have been neglecting everything online terribly, and I am sorry for not being in the blogpsphere much lately, but I am going to make an effort to keep up better. I have truly just been stuck in a rut!
I've worn a ton of great outfits that I really wanted to share but I just never got around to taking the photos.
But here is an outfit I did take photos of.

Shirt, Marden's, Jo Boxer, ???
Skirt, Thrifted, Vintage, 1$
Stockings, ????
Shoes, Marden's, Piper & Blue, 2$
Necklace, Hot Topic, 5$
belt,??

Okay first off I would like to point out that my lip stick is not black its a very nice deep plum color, and I love it. I've yet to try black lip stick, but I do kind of want to.
I love this skirt! I wore a few variations of this outfit through out the past couple of weeks and I have loved everyone. This skirt is just the perfect fit, and its such a nice wool skirt, it isn't even itchy, which is a huge plus.
I'm still batting back and forth rather I like my hair like this or not, some days I just love it, others I miss being able to pull my hair back. But I guess that is the nature of most people with their hair.
I really am going to try my best to pull myself out of this blogging rut. I just need to get my emotions and life in check but that shouldn't take much work I can tell I'm almost out of my slump.
Well anyways I hope you all have a grand day!

What I Wore - Sh-sh-sh-shake It Up

Yello
It is official fall rolled in last Sunday and we have the weather to prove it. I can't believe it's already the end of September! But I guess that's how it goes.
I went thrifting yesterday and made some majorly amazing scores, I got a vintage wool skirt that's from Austria, and a skirt that's from Switzerland. The thrift shop was just so full of foreign clothes with labels in other languages, which for that thrift shop is odd, the closest to foreign they usually get is Canadian. But I sure did love hunting through all the clothes from far off lands! They were all amazingly made and those two skirts I mentioned are just the tip of the ice burg. I ended up spending 11 bucks (which is a lot at that thrift shop) But I came out with 2 bags bursting with treasures so I'm happy.
Anyways onto the outfit photos, I wore this some time last week but I don't remember what day.

Long sleeved lace shirt, Thrifted, 50 cents
Sleeveless top, Thrifted (?), ???
Skirt (really a dress), Thrifted, A|wear, 50 cents
Tights, Marden's, ???
Shoes, Marden's Piper & Blue, 2$?
Belt, ??
Ear cuffs, Claire's, 3$ each

So first off I would like to say, I know this is nothing like what I usually wear, I don't have any color on and there isn't a vintage piece in sight. But the day I wore this I needed to shake it up and do something different and go for a touch of dramatics. And honestly I felt more natural and myself in this outfit then I have in a really long time. I felt confident. I even went out and ran errands in this, and I got more then a few odd looks and stares, but it didn't mater.
So it just goes to show you sometimes it's good to shake things up and try new styles that you don't think you'll be comfortable in. Now I know that I can wear similar style outfits and feel totally comfortable, which for me is good because I like to wear a wide variety of styles.
I'm not saying I'm shedding my love for brightly colored clothes or vintage, because I've been wearing just as much of both. but now I feel like what I have in my wardrobe is more versatility, and I can feel confident picking up different pieces at the thrift shop.
Well anyways  I hope you all have a great day!

What I Wore - Put Another X on the Calendar. Summer's on its Deathbed

Hi everybody,
It isn't even September yet, but boy oh boy does it feel like fall is sinking in up here in Maine! I mean we always have wacky seasons here anyway and it's been said many times that Maine only has two seasons: Winter and the 4th of July. I know people who live in other places can't really understand that, but if you spent a year here you would quickly learn what i mean.
We get about 3 months of nice weather here a year, June, July and August. September is a marginal month it can go either way but usually it rains for a good chunk of it (fingers crossed that it's nice for Pirate Days). By the end of October we usually have had at least a dusting of snow, and it's usually freezing. And by Thanksgiving we typically live in a full blown winter wonderland. Come April it's iffy if the snow will be gone yet, there has been a snow storm on my birthday (April 2nd) almost every year. This last year was a fluke and the second half of April was really nice. May, May's another iffy month, and it's hard to tell exactly what the weather will do for it. But yes it is true that Maine really only has two seasons.
This post was not meant to be a rant about Maine weather, so anyways onto outfit photos!

Shirt, Burlington Coat Factory, Derek heart, 5$ or 6$
Jeans, Thrifted, Fragile, 1$
Shoes, Marden's, Piper & Blue, 2$??
Locket, Thrifted, Vintage, 50 cents
Necklace, Label Shopper, 2$

You might notice the backgrounds a bit different from the last time I took photos on this wall in the living room. We moved the dresser and put this chest there instead. This chest has been around my whole life, it came out of the house my mom was born in. We've always called in "the owl chest" because the hardware has owls on it. It's seen better days, but it is still one of my favorite pieces of furniture in our house.
These are probably the best jeans I have ever thrifted, they fit perfectly. I have trouble finding jeans that sit just right for me because I am very high waisted. Being high waisted gives me a nice hourglass curve, but makes finding pants a bit tricky.
I love lockets, and my collection of them is slowly growing. I'd really like to get one of the really elaborate steampunk kind of style ones, or a fancy antique one, but  have a feeling I'll be on that hunt for awhile. Some day though. Most of my lockets don't have pictures or anything in them, yet that is.
Well anyways I'm rambling so I'm going to go. I may or may not be going away for a couple of days this weekend, those plans are still up in the air, we shall see.
Happy Friday everyone! I hope all of my American friends enjoy the long weekend!
Lexi

Thrifting Haul

Hello hello
I thought I'd do a thrift shop haul post today. I was going to do these every month, but I let it slip because I just haven't been finding a lot. But now with spring cleaning and all it's picking up a lot. Here are some of my favorite finds

This little fish purse is just great! I'd never actually use it because is tiny and it doesn't open well but for 50 cents it was worth it!

Okay so this bird might look terrible (most of my family called it road kill) I just love it, its painted  cement I think, and I just think it's so cool! plus they gave it to me for free since it's so beat up.

I love old travel things and things about places. This has some great photos in it  and it looks really good sitting on top of my vintage suitcases. It cost me a a quarter.

I love vintage bags, I have a nice little collection, but this one I think might be my favorite so far, you can't see all the detail in this photo but it is just perfect. I think I paid maybe a dollar for it.

So I mentioned a few posts back that I had gotten some killer vests recently and here's two of them. Both look way better in person then in the photos but I love them. the first one is suede with that cool croquet detailing I think it will look great over summer dresses. the second one is Vintage and made of wool and pleather. I love how mod it is. I don't know how I'll wear it yet but I love it!  Both were in 2 dollar a bag sales

How could I say no to a vintage belt with light houses on it? for 50 cents I couldn't.
This belt is far to big for me, but I think I'm going to make a bracelet or something out of the buckle. 50 cents.

This dress is amazing. I know it looks terrible in this photo, but trust me its amazing. it fits like a glove and is vintage and perfect. I think it was one of the best dollar investments I ever made.

So there are a few of my favorite resent(ish) finds. As much as I love thrift shops I am really getting impatient for yard sale season to start, I miss those early Saturday mornings driving around and looking for sales.
I know this is a really short post but I don't really have time to write much right now.
Have a great Monday everybody!
